Portraits PT5 - My Final Piece
My Final Piece
after a lot of thought about which I felt was my strongest, I still found it very hard. so I went around and asked my friends what they thought. I them found some photography year 2/3 students and asked their opinions as they were doing a course based on it. I showed them my final 3 and asked what they liked and why.
One year 3 student called Ellie said, 'Personally, I really like the shadow piece. I haven't seen a lot of photographs like this and I enjoy the fact that it is different. it also shows the most technical ability out of the 3, it looks deliberate and as though you went to take it with more intention in mind than the other two photographs. I also really like how it relates so strongly to Freedlander's original piece but still shows different depth and originality.'
Another student called Phoebe who was year 2 said, 'I like the shadow piece best because its unusual. its not what I would first think of when people say the word 'portrait'. compared to what you usually see for portraits its really original and refreshing.'
after hearing what my friends and the photography students had to say about my work, I decided to use the shadow piece for all the reasons they outlined and also for the reasons I outlined previously in posts. I think I have made the right choice to use this one as it shows the most ability, it looks deliberate and not like I took it by accident. the shadow is clear and crisp in the photo and it is a little different to what you'd usually expect from a portrait.
Here is my final image without any editing:
Special mention to the photography students
mentioned for letting me use their comments
in my blog and thank you to everyone, students,
friends, for giving me feedback and helping me
decide on my final choice. hope you all enjoy
