Portraits PT1
Portraits:
Today I went out with a vague idea of what kind of portraits I wanted to take based on my research of photographer Lee Friedlander. As he focused of reflections for some of his projects I decided to try and take some of my own to see if I could create an effect. That being said I also wanted to add my own twist onto it to make it my own. So not only did I focus on reflections, I also focused on what location I wanted to take the reflections, so that I could show the relationship between the person and their past.
for me this project is about remembering where you came from and where you are now and ever forgetting how you got there. I asked my friend savina to model for me and she did a fantastic job as you will see from the following images. I took these in a place I used to hang out in Farnham that not many people at the uni know of. I am very proud of where I came from, no matter where I am now, and its important to me that its represented accurately in these images for the project.
the portrait taken of her shoes with the broken glass is my favourite one as I adore the composure of the photo, and I feel like it speaks volumes. Savina is wearing expensive shoes and nice clothes, and this is juxtaposed by the broken glass and neglected and worn down environment she is in. it shows how much she has changed and grown, but her being there also shows that she is not ashamed by her past in the slightest.
