Politics pt1
Politics year 2 - pt 1
This summer project was given to us in order to introduce us to our new tutor for the year. This really excited me because it's a chance for me to show creativity. First of all I thought about what has effected me and what I care about most in politics. I decided that I wanted to stay away from broad issues for example, trump, Obama, conservative's, I wanted this to focus more on specific issues or rules made by these people, rules that I have strong feelings about. So upon researching artists I came across "Wu Yuren, "The Sparks Program," - 2008. Yuren's work focused around Beijing's section 8 coloney. To create this set of images they gathered seven labours in a room with a pile of flint and metal, meaning they would create sparks. They were in a dark room, the reason for this was to represent the isolation of Chinese workers during Beijing's real estate boom. And from this made some incredible images. This really inspired me because they worked to express issues that they were effected by, rather than the bigger picture. It's also how these images are simple and the idea for them is so simplistic but the images and work it's self speak volumes about their experience.
