artists research:
Antakya Biennial Artist Network, 2010.
- the artist created this image to visualise the results taken after a survey of over 2000 different artists at an exhibition, showing how they relate in different ways in their own networks. After the mindmap I created I wanted to visualise and create a physical network from something metaphorical and that's why this image in particular stood out to me.

Shannon Rankin:
Rankin does a lot of work around various physical states of the map. She uses them to create anything from 3D sculptures to images on photoshop. One particular image stood out to me, she has designed human hearts made out of maps that are connected to one another. I think it reflects on each persons individually and how they can connect in different ways on different levels. She says when explaining her work: "Maps are the everyday metaphors that speak to the fragile and transitory state of our lives and our surroundings. Rivers shift their course, glaciers melt, volcanoes erupt, boundaries change both physically and politically. The only true constant is change.”
Ed Fairburn:
Fairburn has created a series of images using roads on maps to design someone's facial features and then draws their entire face on the map using roads and motorways as guidelines. The images he creates are totally stunning. He was born in Norwich and now lives in Cardiff. He's 23 and spends up to 3 months on each piece, creating a beautiful series. (I can't find a name for it)
Fairburn was also nominated in 2013 for the association of illustrators award for his work. he also worked with john Wentz in Denver on an exhibition, where they worked together to display their work.
Maya Lin:
Maya lin is an american artist and architect who focused her work around minimalism and earth art. she first became famous when she created her first commission in washington DC which was a Vietnam veterans memorial. this along with all her other art was created in an attempt to create something that was clearly not there originally. her work walks a fine line between 'Open-ended concepts' and scientific understanding. she also did work changing the dynamics of basic structural integrity, such as the ground, grass, brick. she also did a 3D model of the sea showing how it is under the water's surface, showing where its deepest, which personally i found incredible.

Just a lil nit pick, you forgot to put the name of the artist next to the Antakya Biennial Artist Network - the Artist's name is Burak Arikan
