Dance film - Sound Design

Sound design:

I remember when I discussed my ideas with Rosie and Rachel, and they suggested I work with sound design to create a sound scape using elements of each age group to Crete one sound scape for the three videos and just allowing the audience to make connections between the two as they see fit. rather than trying to create three different sound scapes, one per video.

I tried creating a sound scape however, I couldn't find something that felt right. it always felt like it didn't work, didn't match up, didn't show what I wanted it to, etc. so I ended up deciding to look at royalty free music. music has always been a huge part of my life and so I decided to use this to reflect the growth in age and how I have developed, as well as the age orders I dealt with in therapy. as I started with the youngest and worked up to now to join the dots together.

I also recorded some basic sound effects like breaking plates and breathing to add under the music just to give it a little more depth.

personally if id had more time to explore my options and develop a solid idea for my sound design theres loads more I could've done. but I just didn't have a clear idea to follow so I was trying to just create something but it didn't work. I'm not 100% happy with my sound design on this project as I know with my ability I couldve done much more. but I just didn't have a vision or the time.

Studio shoot PT 4

final idea? So today we had a group meeting in the library with our camera team as well as joe and Dixie. We came up with an idea about Ying and yang, showing how two opposites in a neutral environment interact and cooperate with one another and how, ultimately, they can't live without one another. So I think the idea is as follows: Synopsis: from what I understand it's about ying and yang, two actors in platonic relationship. They begin separate with a thin material between them in the space, they perform some choreographed movement, dance or over dramatic theatrical movement of some sort. They then go through various different stages showing their opposites, like "hide and seek", or "push and pull" ending up with the two together in the space moving and working in harmony showing that you need one to help the other. experimental media - pt 5

FILMING IS DONE!! finally I have finished filming. I had some difficulty. firstly my first contributor Jeremy Barnes decided he wanted to be filmed outdoors as it was a beautiful day, which meant the lighting was a struggle. as well as this his dog knocked over my tripod and it landed onto the work top and broke the camera attachment in two. so from then on, I had no tripod. luckily in later shots with graham smithers and anne probert I managed to borrow a tripod from lorna so I was able to film properly again which was a huge relief. but now I have it all done thanks to myself and lorna. now just time to edit!
