experimental sound
I am really worried about this project.
the other day I spoke to anne and james and I said I would do a photo which is of a shadowed girl playing with a hoop. I had some strong ideas for it at the time. now however I have lost faith in it. I want to choose another photo and I am currently leaning towards the piece which is a house that was built as a sculpture. I look at its odd shape and hear it in my head, heavy stone doors, echo's, stones on the floor, blunt foot steps... I think it would be amazing and spooky to do. I may speak to james about it tomorrow in class.
either that or there was another one which was very odd, abstract shapes. that really caught my eye. when I saw it, it reminded me of the film Dr.Strange that came out late 2016. there is a section where he is falling through multi-verses and that was full of abstract imagery (thanks to cinematographer Ben Davis). the sounds where booming and loud, monstrous even. but there were hints of sounds that were small and almost delicate. it was a perfectly done combination of both effects and was extremely successful. maybe creating something similar to this with my own twist? slightly less bulky sounds as the picture has more vibrant colours than the sequence did. and so I feel slightly lighter sounds would work well.
some of the sounds I was thinking for that one may include chains, water drops, higher pitched scratching, but not so high that its uncomfortable. combined with maybe some thuds to give some weight behind it. I think this would work well. but I want to do further research into the photo to make sure I do it justice in this project.
