Experimental media - pt 7

Evaluation: I faced a lot of difficulty during both filming and post production including loosing a contributor, scheduling issues, and getting the software at home. But I think I managed to overcome these challenges for the benifit of my film. Looking back on my film I'm not happy with it. I feel like it is far too conventional to be experimental media and that is quite upsetting for me. The reason I think it's too convention is because of the structure of it, it's very conforming of general documentary style, which clearly isn't what I was going for. I also think that having music in the back ground as well as them speaking what they wrote is too conventional, I feel like one or the other would have worked better. Saying that I would have chosen just music no speech because I feel that the music creates an optimistic atmosphere of things getting better and that whilst people have these issues things aren't totally bad. It's too inside the box and I wish...

Editing so editing is going well. I am managing to achieve the results I want. I managed to find a cheery song on bensound.com which I am planning on using in my film. so far it seems to create a positive and optimistic atmosphere which I really like and am happy with. UPDATE: Editing is finished! I am really happy with my result although I had difficulty and struggled in places. it was so rewarding to work with these amazing people it was a pleasure to film them and hear their voices. special thanks to lorna Moseley for helping me as camera man and for letting me borrow her tripod. thanks to my contributors for being so honest and giving me their time for free.

experimental media - pt 5

FILMING IS DONE!! finally I have finished filming. I had some difficulty. firstly my first contributor Jeremy Barnes decided he wanted to be filmed outdoors as it was a beautiful day, which meant the lighting was a struggle. as well as this his dog knocked over my tripod and it landed onto the work top and broke the camera attachment in two. so from then on, I had no tripod. luckily in later shots with graham smithers and anne probert I managed to borrow a tripod from lorna so I was able to film properly again which was a huge relief. but now I have it all done thanks to myself and lorna. now just time to edit!

experimental media - pt 4

update on contributors: so I have one day left before filming and unfortunately the blind man I was intending to feature has had a fall and now cannot be filmed. and with such little time to find a replacement I have decided it best to include myself which I don't feel right doing as I feel my place is behind the camera not in front of it, but for the sake of my film ill do it. I also think doing this gives me a wider range of disabilities. from stroke recovery to mental disability. so I can cover more and spread a stronger message. here is a list of my official contributors: Myself - Holly Probert Lorna Moseley Graham Smithers Anne Probert Jeremy Barnes

my contributors: so I have now locked down my contributors! I have 5. two stroke Recoverers, one lady with a blood clot, one blind man and my friend. although this is more disabled people than I originally anticipated I think it will work well and show that they all have a voice. I have given them my schedule and I am waiting for conformation.

experimental media - pt2

Image
so I have created a short summary of my intended project. Synopsis: - My idea is to film people who have something they want to be heard. I want to show that in todays society opinions are dismissed and forgotten about and how everyone has the right to be heard. - I would like to film people writing down the sentence they wish to be heard, and then record them reading it out. I want to cover a wide range of people, disabled, children, teenagers, adults, etc. - The title will be ‘if you could be heard’ - I would like it to mainly be centred around the disabled to reflect that some people have more difficulty expressing their emotions and thoughts than others. Treatment: • Theme – to show how people today are not heard as one. We are only heard if we shout in groups. But the voices of individuals matter just as much. • Structure – the structure will be simplistic in that it will just be writing and then reading it out. • Mode – I will be filming them doing this in thei...

experimental media - pt 1

Experimental Media: Idea: so after a lot of thought I have decided to do a piece on the voices of disabled people. how any voice can and should be heard the same as people with less/no difficulties. quite often in the community disabled people are avoided or ignored because people judge a book by its cover, through this experimental film I intend to go against this stereotype to show that they have their own voices too and shouldn't be forgotten. I plan on using 3 disabled people and 2 people who are able bodied to show the difference but also the point that we all have a voice and the right for it to be heard.
