FINAL THOUGHTS: over all I am happy with my portraits. I feel that they display the right message clearly, I feel they are respectful to Anne and Graham and I feel honoured that they let me work with them for this project and I feel that this has really helped me get a clear view on what I want for my next project. a few changes I would've made would be to take another shoot just to see if I could get some variation on the photographs. but I think the result was successful anyway so it worked out for the best. another change I would have made would be adding this photograph to my final series: the reason I wanted to include this is because from the expression on Anne's face you can see that they're discussing something light hearted. they were laughing during this chat whilst getting him into the house safely. I also really like the composition of the photo because the lighting is natural and its a little different from the others because of the setting. the reason ...

FINAL SERIES: after a lot of time and thought over these photographs I have edited and chosen 4. these 4 I feel represent how they work as a team. I have chosen one of them both individually and then two of them together. I choose to have individual ones to show that despite their team work they remain their own individual people - reflecting Anne's interview with me. also I love the photos of them as they are genuine. I love the one of Anne because the smile on her face is genuinely and that's really hard to capture, I find it utterly charming and honestly I adore it. I took this photo whilst the two of them were having a chat about plans for the following week and when Anne would be required to work. I chose this one of Graham because I'm extremely proud of the composition. I like the natural lighting and the way it settles on his body. I think it clearly shows his difficulty standing and doing small tasks such as moving around. it also clearly shows the effected sid...

OFFICIAL SHOOT: so today was my official shoot with Anne and Graham. I arranged it so it would be when they arrived home from the gym so I could photograph how Anne helps him out the car and into his home. I got some really lovely shots and over all it was incredibly difficult to choose between them all as to which ones to use. I was there for 3 hours shooting with them and honestly they were fantastic to work with. I was showing photos to them both as we were going and that seemed to make them feel more comfortable with me photographing them once they saw some of the results. I have seen the story of these two people since the beginning. I was 7/8 years old when Graham had his stroke and so doing this was really helpful not only for my project but also therapeutic for me to an extent as well as for them. being able to see how far they have come since it began 10 years ago was really nice for them (they said). and so I'm proud that my project was so sucsessful and I was able to...

INTERVIEW WITH CARER: as part of my research I choose to conduct an interview with the carer (also my mum) Anne Probert. my reason for this was because I wanted to give the most accurate view of her role as possible and to do that I wanted to hear her thoughts. I conducted the interview but I am currently having trouble uploading it. but she said that its all about the person being cared for, its about their lives remaining theirs and she assists them in doing so. she said she felt it was important to remember this constantly through out her role so that they don't feel she is taking over or anything. its important to keep the persons independence. SPEAKING TO THE PERSON BEING CARED FOR: The man I will be working with is called Graham Smithers (my step dad). he is a stroke survivor who has recovered best he can. he had his stroke in 2005/2006. he was in hospital for 6 months with my mum helping him with his recovery. I also interviewed him to see what his thoughts were a...

FIRST IDEA'S: Transgender/non-conforming to gender stereotypes. - very passionate about the topic, inspired primarily by Ceira's project with paint for the last portraits project. life of a carer - a topic close to my heart, seems logical, I have the access so might as well use it International friends - I have friends all over the world who I am traveling to meet this summer, thought it would be cool to include them International slang - a slang term used in other countries in their native language - using my international friends to get this information. MEETING WITH LEAH: After discussing my ideas with leah we decided that probably the gender stereotypes idea would work well using the set and props to clearly symbolise their gender. TEST SHOOT: I performed a test shoot to see how I felt about it. however during the shoot I became extremely frustrated with the set and I couldn't bring myself to take any photos because I was never happy with the message bei...
