Split screen - pt 9

All the components together: I've now added all the components to the video and have now exported it in 720fps due to my computer shutting down when i tried to export at 1080Fps. which is annoying because it means it is viewed in lower quality, apart from that i can honestly say that i am incredibly proud of this final design. one thing i would like is to edit just the advert and see just how far i can take it given more time and more resources i think i could take the advert way beyond its current standard. but i am happy with the split screen and all the effects I've been able to learn and apply to it. i think this is one of the projects I've enjoyed most, despite the fact i bit off a very large and ambitious task, i am over all proud and happy with the outcome I've achieved. i think the experience of having to experiment with the script and the way i used my voice with the Narration, as well as adapting the script to create the most accurate meaning i could for the...

Sound design: Today i started with finding some upbeat music to pair with the left hand video. i went onto youtube searching 'happy upbeat music' and found alot of different options. some didnt suit because they were too relaxing when i wangted upbeat or they didnt match the video. then i found the perfect music called 'Happy background'. when i tried it along with the video it fit perfectly to what i wanted and make the video of them appear far more fun and innocent which is exactly what i was hoping for. Narration: now this is where things got tricky. when designing my narration for the advert i listened repeatedly to the slam poem i mentioned earlier called 'touchscreen' and i made a lift of its key elements: - human like - obedient - can do everything a human can but better - an attempt at replacing human life taking all of this into account, as well as looking at how apple advertise their products in regards to language, i made a few different a...

split screen - pt 7

the left hand screen: today i got my friends Tom and George together to film for the video i wanted to show on the left hand side of the split screen. it was very easy. i set up my EOS 1200D and told them to carry on as if i wasn't there. and so they did and i ended up getting a hilarious video of the 3 of us just playing around in Aldershot. its a really sweet and simple video, exactly what i wanted. i have also now edited it, cutting it in places but still keeping it in chronological order, I've also sped it up because it makes the video more humorous, which is the kind of atmosphere i wanted to create, funny and silly, in the moment and unprepared, something sweet to make the audience laugh. to show that humans are irreplaceable by machines, it also contrasts with with the advert on the other half of the screen. Sound: Although watching it now i have decided that in regards to sound i am keeping the narration encompassing with the advert, however i am going to juxtapos...

split screen - pt 6

Name of the Apple IHuman: (SPOILERS ABOUT GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2) the story behind naming the robot comes from seeing Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in cinema this week. at the end of the film it shows head priestess Ayeshia having created a new synthetic and perfectly engineered life form who she calls Adam, this name i can only assume is a biblical reference due to this new creation being the first of his kind, same as the biblical tale of Adam and Eve. after seeing this it made me think of what to call my robot creation. so i looked over other high tech products including industrial robotic automation. and quite often they are named via Acronym's for what they are. so i then moved to research how robots are described and found various lists of words used to describe robotics. i narrowed this down after looking on the apple website and seeing what language they use to describe their products, and so i chose words that best suited an apple product as well as this product specific...

Split screen - pt5

creation update: so i have now finished constructing the basic structure of the advert. i have all the scenes in order and the masks and back grounds are in. i had a new idea today after looking into possible visual effects on youtube via tutorials. i found one about how to make a glowing projection. i tried to create it but had insane amounts of difficulty. so instead i did my own thing using parts of that tutorial. i used a clip from iron man where it shows the structure of the suit, i created a mask and edited some of the colours making it darker. and added a specific glow and background design to show it as an interactive screen which is displayed to reveal the original design and style of the the Apple IHuman. after a lot of work i feel this this extra small scene works well in relation to the rest of the advert. i have also added more special effects and transitions into the piece in order to create a smoother running order, ive added a glow to the closing shot where i will ...

split screen - pt 4

Creation: So today i did some work on creating the advert and all is going well. i have so far managed to use my first successful special effect during my opening. its an effect that goes across the screen to reveal the 'Apple' logo. i have also managed to begin to compile some scenes together for the advert as well and honestly i am loving where this going. i am really proud of myself for what I've already been able to create. i have a fairly long way to go. But i feel that now i have the basics i can achieve my goal.

Split screen - pt3

PROTO: so today i started looking into how to make a robot on after effects. after looking into it, it is way too advanced for me and you would need to use different adobe software in order to achieve what i wanted so, instead i decided to try and work my way around this. i went onto youtube and looked us simple robot sequences, i instead found a 15 minute short film called Proto, which tells the story of two robots called Proto and Symphony falling in love. i honestly fell in love with Proto, his design is simple, innocent and friendly, and his personality reflects this. he was exactly the type of design i was looking for in the advert. and so i downloaded the video and began to choose clips of it which i could use to create a mask of proto and use in my advert. UPDATE: its now 2 days later and i now feel like i have all the masks of proto i can safely get from the film. i feel like proto is the perfect image i want for this project and full credit goes to the creators of the sho...

INSPIRATION: After having found Stipan, i used her above image as inspiration. i decided that i wanted to use the split screen to show two opposing views of the world and reality changing. possibly with one showing current life and one showing a futuristic representation. I decided to see if prehaps one of my outside interests would be able to help me create this split screen. so i began to look at some of my favourite slam poets for inspiration. firstly turning to my number one favourite slam poet Neil Hilborn, who's written loads of varying slam poems such as 'When your fourth love leaves you', 'Me but happy', 'OCD' and 'The future'. he writes poems about mental health disorders mainly, and so i decided to look into related slam poets and after looking through a few different ones such as Shane Koyczan and Jesse Parent, i came to a man called Marshall Davis Jones. Marshall Davis Jones: He is part of team Nuyorican 2011 who finished 2nd place...

Split Screen - Pt 1

Today we received a new brief for a split screen project on after effects, im not feeling very confident about this as i am really new to after effects and the adobe suite as a whole, having never used it before i started uni, i feel very out of my depth. Brief: show the relationship between the human body and the digital world. My Thoughts: so i started thinking about what the digital world could mean, and i came up with these options: - Robotics - Social media - phones - modern day society - the world in a digital way. so i looked into a few of these options and found some truly incredible artists: Marco Escobedo Escobedo is an artist from Peru who works with both surrealism and the abstract form in his work. he said,  " Perceiving reality beyond our senses might seem a fantasy, however it, all fantasy is real reality somewhere, at some space in the universe " he has a back ground in painting which inspired him to explore graphic design, which has enabled him...
